It's only April and Outkick is talking baseball. This is a great thing for the sport and MLB. The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres are two of the best teams, and they are certainly two of the most entertaining teams to watch.
Fernando Tatis Jr. is a young man who is making a name for himself, and he loves to have a good time while on the diamond. Over the weekend, Tatis got his bat going, hitting two homers off Clayton Kershaw, and followed that performance up with two home runs off Trevor Bauer. He let Bauer and Dodger Stadium know how happy he was, with a one-eyed/Conor McGregor-strut celebration.
After the game, a reporter asked Trevor Bauer about Tatis Jr.'s celebrations and surprisingly Bauer did not go the "unwritten rules of baseball" route. Instead, Bauer thinks that celebrating in MLB, without being plunked for it later, is how things should be now. Baseball needs to be more fun. Trevor added that sometimes he's going to get guys and let them know about it, and sometimes players are going to get him and let him know about it. They're being competitors and that's what it's all about.
Clay Travis loved everything about Tatis' performance, Bauer's response, and their Twitter exchange. Clay compared it to his son's little league home run derby that took place over the weekend. The kids were practicing walk-offs and bat flips, wanting to emulate what they're seeing in the Dodgers/Padres rivalry.
Baseball celebrations should be enjoyed, and in the moment. The game is starting to see a whole lot of fun, with players like Fernando Tatis Jr. and Trevor Bauer.
