Jason Whitlock Calls Out the 'Horrendous' Leadership of Deion Sanders

Deion Sanders: “What I just said in the locker room to the team is they have to make up in their mind: are they IN LOVE with this game or are they IN LIKE with it? Because when you love something, you give to it unconditionally. You give everything you’ve got to it, but when you ‘like it’ that’s just a button you push. That’s what they do on social media. It’s hard for me because I LOVE this. I am truly 100% in love with this thing and I just want people to match ME. Match my passion, match my heart, match my love, match my consistency, match my mannerisms, just match every darn thing I give to this game."

Jason Whitlock: “I’m trying to shake Deion and tell him ‘hey, man, this self-idolatry you got is going to kill you as a head football coach. It’s going to undermine this football team.' It’s completely obvious, anybody can see it. Colorado is the most penalized and undisciplined team in football. Deion’s main message is ‘BE LIKE ME.’ He’s got all this swagger so they want to be like Deion. That’s why his son is running around flashing $40,000 watches at fans. Who has time to think about that? ‘After the game I have to have my watch somewhere where I can go flash it in front of them!’ Deion is cheer-leading it on, he’s had a press-conference talking about ‘we gotta get my son a watch deal!’ And you’re wondering why they’re the most penalized team in college football? You’re wondering why they had 17 penalties, went to sleep in the second half, and lost to a bad Stanford team? This is horrendous leadership that anybody should have seen coming. This ain’t just one game, because every game they’re penalized over, and over, and over again. Every game Deion was like ‘this ain’t us’... No, – YES, it is. This is the fruit that you’re bearing. You're planting all these trees that produce all this lack of discipline because your message is about ‘YOU, YOU, YOU.’ // The things I’ve been saying about Deion have nothing really to do with the win/loss record. Is what Deion is doing, what Deion is promoting—is it built for long-term, sustainable success? It is promoting a set of values that the kids in that locker room can take and apply it to their life? Those are the values that football coaches and other leaders are charged to promote. Deion is not doing that. This whole thing is built around Shedeur, his son. This is a pee-wee football coach doing everything to pad the stats of his son, and doing everything to try and get his son into the Heisman race and at the top of the NFL Draft board. There’s no one that Deion is unwilling to exploit to make that happen, starting with Travis Hunter. Are you watching what’s going on with Travis Hunter? Guy misses three games with a lacerated kidney, comes back against Stanford and plays 140 snaps or something crazy. Played him both ways and then in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter, the dude was so gassed he got ate up as a defensive back. Why is this man playing 140 snaps coming off an injury? Or really at any time? Why is he doing that? Because he needs a wide receiver that’s good at YAC [yards after catch] to pad Shedeur’s stats. I’m no expert on skill position players but Travis Hunter’s best position is cornerback. That’s where I think he has the highest upside as an NFL player. That’s where I think he could earn the most money. He’ll be a little bit undersized as a wide receiver, but he could be the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL easier than he could be the highest-paid receiver. But Deion is playing him both ways so his son can pad his own stats, and everybody would see this if Deion had less melanin. If Deion was a White coach and there was some Black player that he was playing 140 snaps, playing both ways, particularly coming off an injury, and then you watch that kid get ate up in pass-coverage in the fourth quarter, and then you’re sitting there going ‘hold up, his best position is corner, why is he playing so many snaps?’ Everybody would be able to see it and everybody would say the coach is exploiting him, but because we have our racial idolatry lenses we don’t care about Travis Hunter. We don’t care about what’s best for Travis Hunter. All we care about is Deion, Prime Time, because we’re groupies for Deion, and we don’t care who gets exploited in the name of Deion. Deion is your God and you’re mad at me because he’s not my God, and you’re mad at me because I’m telling you you’re worshiping a false God. You’re throwing away all these commonsense values and can’t see the obvious fraudulence of Deion. This man cost his team a 29-0 lead, comes into the post-game press-conference -- ‘MAN, THESE KIDS JUST GOTTA BE MORE LIKE ME!’ I nearly fell off my couch when I was watching that. The dumb stuff I’ve seen from Deion, including at the beginning of overtime taking the ball, it makes no sense what he’s doing, it’s just dumb. Up 29-0 and you’re going for it on 4th and 4 from the fifty, just letting them back into the game? This is STUPID, everybody can see it, but because it’s Deion we’re not supposed to say anything. ‘THEY ONLY WON ONE GAME LAST YEAR! THEY’VE ALREADY WON FOUR! JASON, YOU JUST HATE DEION! YOU’RE JEALOUS! YOU WANNA BE DEION!’... No, I really don’t. I want you to snap out of your racial idolatry. I want Deion to snap out of his self-idolatry. I'd like for Deion to take full advantage of this opportunity and make what he’s doing at Colorado about more than ‘DEION’ and his two sons. We have college coaches around the country protecting running backs and saying ‘hey, man, we’re not going to give you so many carries because we want to protect your NFL future.’ It’s a recruiting ploy, but also they’re doing it to protect these kids and make sure their self-interest is served. But as it relates to Travis Hunter and Deion Sanders; Deion has got this guy out here like he’s a slave playing both ways. He’s got an injury history, he’s missed three games this season, but Deion has got him out there every chance he has. He’s not protecting this kid’s NFL future. That’s not about preparing that kid for the NFL. That’s about Deion padding Shedeur’s stats. You groupies are just going to have to remain mad at me. // You’re letting kids buy into the ‘swagger’, the gold chains, the sunglasses... This is what is getting kids killed. This is what has them embracing criminality and instant gratification. But you want to hop on the Deion bandwagon because it’s the fad thing to do. Supporting Colorado, a school that has 1% Black students, that’s how you’re ‘authentically Black.' ‘IT’S THE BLACK THING TO DO!’” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Jason Whitlock of Fearless call out the ‘fraudulence’ of ‘false God’ Deion Sanders, as Whitlock goes on the offensive once again against Coach Prime’s most vocal apologists in the media.

Check out the segment above as Whitlock rips Sanders for blowing a 29-0 halftime lead to lowly Stanford on Friday, saying Deion’s ‘horrendous’ leadership is to blame for Colorado’s deteriorating season.
