The Denver Broncos will be releasing QB Russell Wilson despite taking an $85M hit and Dan Patrick isn’t surprised. He has never believed that Broncos HC Sean Payton ever wanted Wilson, and this will allow Payton to bring in somebody he thinks he can mold to his philosophy. He got exactly what he wanted and now he’s on the clock to find the right guy to replace Wilson.
Dan Patrick: “Sean Payton didn’t want Russell Wilson...now Sean Payton’s on the clock. Now it starts, it’s like; tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, here we go. OK Sean, who do you want? It looks like, you know, Sean is going to get his guy, a younger guy. He wants to mold him, he wants to see if he can find the next Drew Brees and have that quarterback sort of fall in line with what Sean’s philosophy is. I don’t think Sean Payton liked Russell Wilson.”
