Eagles QB Nick Foles will not need surgery to repair his broken left clavicle, but will still miss at least 6 weeks of action.

The Eagles placed LB DeMeco Ryans on injured reserve with an Achilles injury.

The Green Bay Packers gave head coach Mike McCarthy a multi-year contract extension.

Ole Miss sophomore WR Laquan Treadwell will miss 4 months of action after breaking his leg and dislocating his ankle late in their loss to Auburn on Saturday night.

Rockets PG Patrick Beverley will miss his 2nd straight game because of a hamstring injury.  The Rockets are in Philadelphia facing the 76ers.

Duke freshman forward Jahlil Okafor was named to the AP Preseason College Basketball All-American 1st team.  He is joined on that team by Louisville’s Montrezl Harrell, UNC PG Marcus Paige, Frank Kaminsky of Wisconsin, and Wichita State guard Fred Van Vleet.
