Major League Baseball says they will hold a moment of silence prior to tonight’s Game 6 of the World Series in memory of Cardinals OF Oscar Taveras, and his girlfriend, who were killed in a car accident over the weekend in the Dominican Republic.

The agent for Champ Bailey told ESPN that the defensive back will retire after 15 seasons in the league, despite receiving interest from other teams.

Updated: Cowboys QB Tony Romo will have an MRI today after suffering a back contusion during last night’s loss to Washington.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said today on his radio show that they have lost LB Justin Durant for the season with a torn biceps muscle.

Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard won’t play in tonight’s season opener against the Mavericks because of an eye infection.

The Redskins upset the Cowboys 20-17 in OT. Washington QB Colt McCoy completed 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards and had a rushing TD. Dallas’ 6 game win streak was snapped.

Dallas QB Tony Romo left in the 3rd quarter with a back injury. He returned for the end of the 4th quarter and OT but was ineffective. He was diagnosed with a back contusion.

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating an alleged domestic assault involving Florida State leading rusher Karlos Williams.

The Rangers scored 5 goals in the third period and rally for a 5-4 win over the Wild.

The Oilers surprise the Canadiens 3-0. Edmonton goalie Ben Scrivens had 20 saves in the shutout win.
