College Athletes have a Trade-Off with the NCAA

The nature of college football is drastically different than high school football. 

In college, there is a trade-off (whether you consider it fair or not) of services in exchange for an athlete's commitment to playing the sport at that specific college or University. The players receive an education, a place to sleep, and food in return for their commitment.

In high school, things get a bit more interesting.
