Ohtani Shows How Meaningless Spring Training Stats Are

Ohtani Shows Spring Training Numbers Are Meaningless

Heading into the 2018 season, many were doubting that Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani would be able to make the transition to Major League Baseball after a rough spring training. It only took eight games, however, for him to silence his critics. Ohtani is slashing .389/.421/.889 with 3 HR and 7 RBI. Not to mention his quality start and win over the A's in his first start on the mound.

Mark Willard and Rich Ohrnberger believe Ohtani has officially put to death the talking point of spring training statistics. The 23 year old has hit a home run in three straight home starts, and has become a key cog in a dangerous Angels lineup that is desperate for a return to the post season.
