$16 Million a Year Is Too Much for Any Running Back

$16 Million a Year Is Too Much for Any Running Back

Clay Travis is reacting to the news of Christian McCaffrey and his new extension with the Carolina Panthers. The deal covers four seasons, and averages $16 million per year.

Clay Travis is not a fan of this deal for the Panthers. Clay points out to the recent history in regards to paying top dollar to the running back position. Ezekiel Elliot, David Johnson, LeVeon Bell, and Todd Gurley are the backs that have gotten big pay days in recent years, and none of those situations have worked out very well.

Clay brings in the Outkick crew to get their take on the new deal, and everyone else on the show disagrees with Clay. Danny G., Dub, Eddie, and Roberto all like the deal for McCaffrey and the Panthers, and argue that McCaffrey is the exception to the "you don't pay running backs big money" rule.

Will this end up a good deal for Carolina? We will be able to answer that question in 3 to 4 years, but it's certainly a good deal for Christian McCaffrey.
