Former NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson died in a car accident in Alabama on Sunday (April 12) night. Jackson was driving his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro when he lost control, flipped the car, and hit a tree, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency trooper Michael Carswell told USA Today.
Jackson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials did not say what caused the accident.
Jackson played for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks during his NFL career, which spanned from 2006 to 2015. He threw for 7,263 yards and had 39 touchdowns along with 35 interceptions. He won a Super Bowl in 2014 while serving as the backup to Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson.
After retiring from the NFL, Jackson joined the coaching staff Alabama State. In 2019, he took a job at Tennessee State as the school's quarterback coach.
