Angels’ Refusal to Let Shohei Ohtani Pitch Is Dumbfounding

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim superstar Shohei Ohtani has been denied the chance to pitch in tonight’s All-Star Game by his team because they don’t want to push his next scheduled start back one day. He is inarguably the most talented player in the game today and denying America the chance to see him pitch in the All-Star Game is dumbfounding, especially considering the Angels are more than twenty games out of first place in their division.

Doug Gottlieb: “You have an international superstar, the reigning AL MVP who’s likely to be a back-to-back MVP, might even be a unanimous MVP, and you’re not going pitch him because you’ve got to move him back one day as a start, when you’re 20 1/2 games behind the first place Houston Astros? There’s not a human being that can say this makes any sort of logical sense.”
