A Discussion on Racism in NFL Hiring Practices

Doug Gottlieb and Rob Parker are sitting in for Dan Patrick today and they take the show in a very controversial direction. They get into a heated discussion about the accusations of racism surrounding the lack of opportunities for new Washington Commanders Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy. As you might imagine, Rob believes white coaches get more opportunities than their black counterparts while Doug thinks racism doesn’t promote winning which is the bottom line so there is no incentive for owners to avoid black coaches if they can help a team win.

Rob Parker: “Are you saying that race never plays a factor in there not being a black coach in the NFL till Art Shell?”

Doug Gottlieb: “We’re in a place now where I don’t believe it plays any sort of factor at all...The only thing that matters in the NFL; one thing, winning football games.”
