Zach Wilson Drama: A Masterclass in Reporting or a Bad Game of Telephone?

Dan Beyer and Monse Bolaños navigate the muddy waters surrounding the Jets and Zach Wilson’s relationships, after it was reported Zach refused to re-enter the starting role. Dan believes that this is too big of a story for reporters to make up, but Monse feels it was probably taken out of context. Check out the full segment above!

Dan Beyer: “It’s much more nuanced than does Zach Wilson really want to play, or does he not want to play. Because now you’re bringing in the possibility of the comment being flippant, Aaron Rodger’s involvement, or maybe it being an organizational decision like John Middlekauf suggested. There are so many branches to the story, which I do believe has legs because of its important. This just isn’t a story you make up. Now there may be holes in how it was delivered, but I have a difficult time believing The Athletic’s Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt would put their reputation on the line in getting a story like this wrong.”
Monse Bolaños: “I understand what you’re saying and I don’t think these reporters would put their reputation on the line. But I also think this could’ve been taken out of context. Is this a “he said” situation and it got to you? Because we all know how the game telephone works, and it never ends up exactly what was originally said... Or is someone within the organization out to get Zach Wilson?”
