Doug Gottlieb: "No one is arguing the fact that this was both a complete setup and a sham that he did something illegal to this woman. He's still going to carry a scarlet letter. We're supposed to live in this incredible country where you're innocent until you're proven guilty. They were awful accusations, no doubt. I said at the time if this was true, then this guy should never touch a baseball again. But I was wrong. This was a complete sham, yet he's carrying a scarlet letter like he did something wrong. And he's even apologizing, not for doing anything illegal, but for putting himself in that situation, which I think is super mature of him."
Doug Gottlieb reacts to Pitcher Trevor Bauer publicly addressing his desire to resume his career in Major League Baseball. Doug explains why he believes he was initially wrong about the accusations that led to Bauer's suspension and release, and asserts that he believes Bauer deserves a second chance. However, as Doug demonstrates, Bauer may find trouble getting back to the league as he will never be able to fully shed the "scarlet letter" of the case that led to his release.
