As we get further away from Super Bowl LVIII, Dan is more convinced than ever that San Francisco 49ers Head Coach, Kyle Shanahan was trying to prove that Brock Purdy is an elite quarterback and it cost them the game. It’s hard to imagine another reason why he would start calling pass plays instead of continuing to feed Christian McCaffrey.
Dan Patrick: “I still think Kyle Shanahan wanted to prove that Brock Purdy is an elite quarterback, and he was going have him win that game, and win the MVP, and shut up everybody...I think ego got involved here a little bit because Kyle Shanahan’s hearing this. Brock Purdy’s hearing this. And they’re like, ‘You know what, go out there and we’re going to throw the ball!’”
