Stephen Jackson: Popovich Orchestrated Kawhi Derision

“Pop has his three guys; Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan. These are his guys. He’s not going against anybody over these three guys. Anything that comes out in the media, or anything that needs to be said or distributed to the team, it comes from Pop through Tony and Ginobili.”

Former NBA veteran Stephen Jackson was on The Herd blasting Gregg Popovich and the Spurs organization for their treatment of superstar Kawhi Leonard during a peculiar standoff between Leonard and the team that has seen multiple Spurs players question the legitimacy of Leonard’s injury.

Leonard has played in only nine games this season due to a lingering quad injury, but his timetable to return has been an obscured topic of conversation ever since the season began.

Jackson took great exception to a recent quote from Parker.

“I’ve been through it. It was a rehab for me for eight months. Same kind of injury (as Kawhi), but mine was a hundred times worse. But the same kind of injury. You just stay positive." -- Tony Parker.

“For Tony to come out and make a statement about his injury being 100x worse than Kawhi’s is so low, and the timing of it is even worse,” Jackson said. “Y'all might not believe this, but the meeting that was thrown up on Kawhi after the game -- that came down from Pop onto those guys. They didn’t do that on their own, Tony Parker and Ginobili don’t have the balls to do that.”
