Graphic Video Shows Angry Mob Kicking & Beating Gunman Who Shot David Ortiz

An angry crowd dispensed its own form of justice moments after former Hall of Famer,David 'Big Papi' Ortiz, was shot in the back at a club in his hometown of Santo Domingo on Sunday.

Eddy Feliz Garcia, a local resident in Santo Domingo, was quickly captured by the crowd at the bar after Ortiz was shot. Video from the scene showed the crowd kicking and punching at the gunman who sat on the ground, while holding his bleeding head.

Ortiz was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder and part of his intestines. The Boston Red Sox legend is currently in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, doctors say.

In surveillance video posted on Twitter, Garcia can be seen pulling up on a motorcycle, approach Ortiz from behind, firing his weapon at the former baseball player at point blank range. Garcia then fled the scene, but the crowd of Ortiz supporters chased the gunman down and beat the suspect. The suspect can be heard pleading ignorance, saying he doesn't know anything about the shooting.

The crowd can be heard calling Garcia trash and taunting him, "You don't know anything? You don't know anything?"

Two other people were wounded in the shooting, including Jhoel Lopez, a friend of Ortiz's and a local TV host in the Dominican Republic. Police believe that Lopez was wounded by the same bullet that struck Ortiz. Police have not yet offered a possible motive for the shooting.

The 43-year-old Ortiz played in the major leagues for 20 seasons, 14 of those with the Boston Red Sox. During his time playing baseball, he hit an incredible 541 homers, he made 10 All-Star teams and won three World Series championships with Boston until retiring in 2016.
