Chris Broussard: “NFL teams asking Carli Lloyd to kick in a preseason game is a GIMMICK. They just want ratings and they want buzz. If you want to give a female a REAL shot there’s a field goal kicker named Becca Longo in Division-II Adam Stats. Give HER a chance if you really want to be fair about this. She shouldn’t go along with this to just be used as a prop, and a gimmick, and a tool for buzz. I’m on Carli’s side but everyone else wants to throw her to the wolves.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)
Listen to Chris Broussard explain why he thinks the developing story surrounding United States Women National Team star Carli Lloyd possibly contemplating an attempt to play in the NFL is a cruel gimmick that is being flamed by NFL teams looking to simply use the soccer star for desperate publicity.
Broussard doesn’t believe that the-now viral video of Lloyd kicking a 55-yard field goal at Philadelphia Eagles training camp last week holds any water considering she made the kick with a five-yard running start, without equipment on, and without a rush from a defense.
Although it may be an interesting story during a dead period in the NFL schedule before the irrelevant fourth preseason game, Broussard thinks NFL teams are throwing Lloyd’s name out there for ratings, and ultimately attempting to put her into an awful freak show type act for their own personal gain.
Check out the audio below as Broussard says if you really want to give a woman a chance in the NFL, give the chance to someone who actually deserves it, like Adams State kicker Becca Longo of Division-II.
