Colin Cowherd: Lincoln Riley Will Be Next Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

Los Angeles Rams v Dallas Cowboys
Colin Cowherd: “Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett is heating up… Jerry had reportedly offered Dak a contract but he has NOT offered Garrett one. Garrett has some appeal on the open market winning a division with Dak Prescott, but I think Jerry already knows who his next coach is... LINCOLN RILEY is brilliant and makes every quarterback work. He made Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, and Kyler Murray into stars. Dak Prescott? Now that would be a pretty good fit. These college guys work and Jerry loves college football. Lincoln Riley is Jimmy Johnson and everybody knows he’s going to work in the NFL. Jerry’s got his guy.” (Full Video at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley is the Dallas Cowboys ‘head coach in-waiting’ as the talented, yet teetering Cowboys have lost three straight games going into their Sunday Night Football grudge match against the Philadelphia Eagles with first place in the droopy NFC East on the line.

Colin doesn’t think the allure of Riley is a big mystery. Riley is a 36-year-old offensive maestro who some have even billed as one of the brightest offensive minds in football history. He played quarterback at Texas Tech, and has been the head coach of two consecutive Heisman campaigns for Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray, and could have a third consecutive one this season with Jalen Hurts.

Jason Garrett is one of the most derided coaches in the league, and like a horror movie villain who just won’t die off. Garrett has surprisingly survived in Dallas since 2010, even though he’s won just two playoff games with stacked Cowboys teams.
