Rob Parker: Robotic Umpires Would Ruin Major League Baseball

World Series - Houston Astros v Washington Nationals - Game Five
Rob Parker: “I don’t want a computer robot in Major League Baseball. The NFL has been a total disaster this year since they added more replay with pass interference and has made the game worse. This game has been played for over 150 years. Hank Aaron played with a human umpire, Babe Ruth played with a human umpire.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Rob Parker and Chris Broussard debate the idea of robotic umpires in Major League Baseball, as the league had begun experimenting with the revolutionary strike calling system in some of their lower levels.

After Game 5 of the World Series was defined by questionable calls behind home plate the topic really reached its boiling point, as every other professional sport has been extremely proactive with using replay to ‘get it right’, while baseball seems to hold near and dear the idea of the human element in calling balls and strikes.

Check out the audio below as rob argues that the sport of baseball, the oldest and most traditional sport in the United States, shouldn’t resort to a gimmick like a robotic strike zone just because a new generation of players can’t abide by the same rules that MLB players have followed for well over 100 years.
