Colin Cowherd: It's Time For Detroit Lions to Trade Matthew Stafford

Colin Cowherd: “You’re trying to draft someone who changes your future… Detroit is a BAD franchise. We talk about the Browns on this show but at least the Browns have a brand. Detroit is bad AND boring. I keep reading all these mock drafts and they’re taking a cornerback?? Oh, boy! That’s a game changer! That will get them from fourth to third in the division! GO DRAFT A QUARTERBACK. Nothing against Matthew Stafford but put him on the market and see what you can get. Eleven years and ZERO playoff wins, and no division titles. What’s the loyalty? If he’s the ‘best player we’ve ever heard’ then that’s a YOU problem – draft better! His record as a starter is 69-79-1. He’s Andy Dalton with a better arm, and he’s past his prime and banged up. You think drafting a corner is going to change anything? Is that going to sell a ticket? Is that going to sell a jersey? Give me a break!” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the hapless Detroit Lions, one of the worst franchises in the history of North American sports, needs to trade veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford and focus on getting a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Stafford has long been touted as one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL, but he has yet to win a playoff game at the age of 32, is 10 games under .500 in 11 seasons (69-79-1, and has never won the NFC North division either.

Colin says it’s time the Lions turn the page on ‘Andy Dalton with a better arm’, and says the perpetual cellar dwellers should consider trading Stafford and drafting Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the number three pick.

Check out the video above as Colin details why a franchise who hasn’t won a playoff game since 1991, and a team who has just one playoff win since 1957, needs to start whitewashing their miserable history with a new quarterback.
