Dak Deserves to Get Paid, But Not $40 Million

Dak Doesn't Deserve $40M

Chris Broussard: "I think if i'm the Dallas Cowboys, i'm doing everything I can to bring him back, but i'm not giving him 40 million dollars. As much as I like Dak, he's not Patrick Mahomes, he's not one of these guys - and i've said this from the get-go - as much as I praise him, I've never said "he's just a guy that is gonna put a team on his back." He needs high quality receivers, he needs a good running back and running game - and in fairness most quarterbacks do - but he's not Aaron Rodgers, he's not Patrick Mahomes... I haven't seen Drew Brees. I mean, there are some quarterbacks where you're just gonna pay them no matter what else is around you... he's not that guy."

On today’s edition of The Odd Couple, Chris Broussard and Rob Parker discuss the latest on Cowboys QB Dak Prescott contract negotiations. Chris says he likes Dak Prescott and deserves to get paid, but paying him $40 million per year is crazy! Chris also says he would start thinking about franchising him or talking to Tom Brady as other options. Plus, Rob says Dak is next in line so he should get paid if that is what the market requires, but $5 million more than the highest paid – Russel Wilson – is too much. Rob says Dak needs the pieces around him to be successful and this may backfire on him in the long run. Chris agrees with Rob that he should be the highest paid, but he should take $36 million, not 40, and says Patrick Mahomes is the only QB who deserves that.
