Doug Gottlieb: LeBron James, NOT Giannis Antetokounmpo, Deserves NBA MVP

Doug Gottlieb: “LeBron should not only be in contention for the league’s MVP, but I think he should be the leader in the clubhouse… My argument for LeBron is that I don’t think there is another player in the NBA who you could put on the Lakers and they would have this good of a year… I think if you took Giannis off the Bucks, and put Ben Simmons on the Bucks, I’m not sure if Simmons doesn’t have the same sort of statistical dominance.” (Full Video Above)

Listen Doug Gottlieb explain why he believes LeBron James should win the 2020 NBA Most Valuable Player Award over Giannis Antetokounmpo in a race that still overwhelmingly favors Giannis to take home the hardware.

Doug thinks LeBron’s season is more impressive given the hodgepodge of role players the Lakers have around LeBron and Anthony Davis, that features an awkward assortment of aging castoffs.

Giannis on the other hand, plays in an incredibly efficient and meticulous system that allows him to always have a clear lane to the basket, and fewer responsibilities when it comes to having to single-handedly carry the team in big moments like LeBron.

Doug says he thinks Philadelphia 76ers 6’10” point guard Ben Simmons would be putting up the same numbers on the Bucks if him and Giannis switched teams.
