Colin Cowherd: Patriots Need to Tank Next Season to Draft Trevor Lawrence

Colin Cowherd: “I think the Patriots are going to do what Miami did last year. Create a culture and not be very good at quarterback. It’s playing hard, playing to win, but LOSING and knowing you’re going to lose… Why doesn’t New England go after Andy Dalton? It’s tanking for Trevor Lawrence… New England is not very good at quarterback and they’re bottom 3 or 4 in weapons. They can play hard, lose close game, and accumulate draft picks… Remember not all the bad teams at the top of next year’s draft – the Bengals, Giants, Redskins, and Dolphins are going to need to quarterback next year if things work. The Jaguars are the only team who is going to be bad who I think will draft a quarterback.” (Full Video at Top of Page)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the New England Patriots should tank this upcoming season to draft Clemson phenom quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Colin has long been on the Lawrence bandwagon, already anointing him as arguably the most gifted quarterback prospect of his lifetime, and as a guy who can single-handedly save a franchise no matter how dire of a situation he inherits.

Colin believes New England should sign derided former Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and essentially ‘tank’ next season as a competitive team, much like the Dolphins did last season. Colin thinks next season will be a unique Draft in which almost all the bad teams already have a young quarterback that they like, which will offer ample opportunity for a guy like Lawrence to fall past the first few picks.
