Travis Frederick's Retirement Yet Another Reason Not to Pay Dak Prescott

Colin Cowherd: “With Travis Frederick, the Cowboys were number one in yards per play; when he’s gone they were 22nd. Sacks? Second fewest allowed in the NFL. When he’s gone? Second MOST allowed. He was a rockstar. Dallas’ o-line is getting old. Tyronn Smith entered the league at 20, now he’s an old 29. Zack Martin is excellent but he’s an older 29. It’s starting to deteriorate and this is the first sign… Teams in leagues with salary caps get bad fast when they sign ‘good’ players – Dak Prescott – to ‘GREAT’ contracts… That’s why Russell Wilson gets the money; because I’ve seen him carry bad o-lines, carry average receivers, and carry the team when all his running backs got hurt. Any time an offensive lineman is hurt, any time Zeke is suspended, or pre-Amari Cooper, I’ve NEVER seen Dak carry the team. Now, more than ever, I want to franchise Dak. He does not have the ability to take average parts and elevate them.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd discuss the shocking retirement of five-time Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick at the age of 29, as Colin believes Frederick’s retirement will ultimately hurt Dak Prescott when it comes to his desires to warrant a long-time deal with Dallas.

Frederick was one of the game’s most elite offensive linemen, and the Cowboys have severely struggled when he’s not on the field anchoring arguably the NFL’s most talented o-line.

Check out the video above as Colin details why this is another reason to keep the franchise tag on Dak for the 2020 season, as Colin firmly believes that Frederick’s exit could expose a ‘good’ but not ‘great’ Prescott who doesn’t have the talent to carry a team himself like Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, and Carson Wentz can.
