Source: NBA Owners 'Determined to Have Champion', Season Expected to Resume

The NBA is working hard on coming up with plans on how the league can finish out the season that has been paused due to the global coronavirus pandemic. According to a report in the New York Post, owners have come up with some creative ideas on how they can restart the season.

“They’re very determined to have a champion,” an industry source told the paper.

One solution they are considering is to have all 30 teams finish out their games in a single arena without any fans present. While the owners would like to see all the games played, it is more likely teams will play between five and seven games before the playoffs begin.

16 teams would qualify for the playoffs, but some of the early rounds may be a best-of-five instead of best-of-seven.

Officials are considering multiple cities, including Las Vegas, Orlando, Atlantic City, Hawaii, Louisville, and the Bahamas.

League officials believe the earliest they could begin playing games again is late-June. Under this plan, the NBA would delay the start of next season until Christmas.
