Chris Broussard: Panthers Will Regret Overpaying For Christian McCaffrey
Chris Broussard: “Christian McCaffrey is a great running back, runs it on an elite level, and catches it at an elite level – and obviously I’m happy for him – but I gotta be objective and look at this from a FOOTBALL standpoint. As good as McCaffrey is, this was clearly and unquestionable A MISTAKE. When are these guys going to learn?? Paying a running back that kind of money just doesn’t pay off. On a human level I’m happy for all running backs because I don’t think they get what they deserve, but when it comes to winning football games it just doesn’t make sense. Christian McCaffrey was AWESOME last season, and yet the Carolina Panthers won 5 games, and the year before won 7 games. The only time they ever made the playoffs was when he was a rookie, and he wasn’t even starting till the end of the season, and ran for less than 500 yards and less than 4.0 yards a carry. In today’s NFL I can go get, heck an UNDRAFTED ROOKIE. The two starting running backs in last year’s Super Bowl were undrafted and the team who ran roughshod last season with a running game was San Francisco and all their running backs were 'un-ballyhooed.' The six highest paid running backs in the NFL including McCaffrey, Zeke, Todd Gurley, Le’Veon Bell, David Johnson, and Devonta Freeman have one thing in common. NONE OF THEM MADE THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Chris Broussard explain why he think the Carolina Panthers will regret re-signing All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey to an NFL record-high four-year, $64 million deal on Monday.

Check out the audio above as Chris details why although McCaffrey has been arguably the most productive running back in the league the last two years, NFL teams who pay running backs massive salaries never seem to have much success. (Full Audio Above)
