Former NBA Coach Explains What it's Like to Face Michael Jordan in a Finals

Listen to former NBA head coach George Karl join The Herd to discuss ESPN’s ongoing ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, and describe to Colin Cowherd what it was like to face off with Michael Jordan in an NBA Finals.

The Bulls faced off with the Seattle Supersonics in the 1995-1996 Finals in a somewhat forgotten year that came before the more documented back-to-back Bulls vs. Jazz matchups.

Even though the Bulls went 72-10 that season, the regular season record until the 2016 Warriors broke that total with 73 wins, the Supersonics rolled into that Finals with a 64-18 record, and with three All-Stars in Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf and talented role players in Hersey Hawkins and Sam Perkins for one of the better NBA teams of all-time that Jordan blocked from winning championships.

Karl won 1,175 games as a head coach in the NBA, most notably with the Sonics and Nuggets, and like Jordan, was a former North Carolina Tar Heels player in the early 70’s.

Check out the interview above as Karl details what it’s like to game plan against Jordan in a 7-game series, and what his biggest reactions were the to the Jordan documentary that is saturating the entire sports world.
