The wife of the Atlanta Braves’ Marcell Ozuna was busted on domestic battery charges for allegedly hitting the outfielder with a soap dish, according to a report.
Ozuna suffered a “small laceration” to his face in the scuffle with his wife, Genesis, Miami radio host Andy Slater tweeted on Friday. The 29-year-old slugger, whose nickname is The Big Bear, drove to a Miami-area police station to report the incident, Slater said.
Initially she was ordered to stay away from her husband, but that has been amended, according to TMZ. Genesis was arrested on domestic battery charges following a two-week investigation. She pleaded not guilty and was given an order to stay away from her husband.
Ozuna is a 29-year-old outfielder from the Dominican Republic, and has appeared in two All-Star Games in 2016 and 2017 with the Miami Marlins Ozuna finished 15th in NL MVP voting in 2017 when he finished the season with a .312 batting average, 37 home runs, and 124 RBIs.
