The Real Reason Why the NFL Will Never Apologize to Colin Kaepernick

Doug Gottlieb: "The idea that you’re going to get the NFL to go ‘hey sorry, we were wrong about Colin’ is not likely considering he sued the league and then settled… Malcolm Jenkins wants to ‘put him on a team’ but how will that go over? Who’s the guy who is going to fall on this grenade for the rest of the league?... He wasn’t even a starter at the time this stuff became a big thing. Then he had the pig socks, and then he had the Castro shirt when he was in Miami. Like that DID happen. This was after he had turned down a chance to play for the Broncos… By the way we can't apologize because he sued us for saying that we collectively decided to keep him out of the league, something the NFL vociferously denied. Nobody has any idea of what the settlement was, but a settlement they can't talk about and Malcolm Jenkins knows it. This is a big part of one of the reasons you're getting some people to not make any sort of apology or statement. It's NEVER going to be good enough, and that's the feeling. I don't know what you needed to hear from Roger Goodell, but for Roger Goodell to sit and look at the camera on a Friday night and go 'Hey, we were wrong' , that's enough.' Do you want us to wake up every day and apologize? Is that what you want from Roger Goodell? 'No, we want you to specifically apologize to Colin Kaepernick.' What am I apologizing for? I already apologized for not understanding the depth of this problem and why you were protesting. That's enough, especially when you said that you didn't have to do with any sort of collusion... The idea that Goodell is going to assign him to a team is kind of laughable.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he doesn’t think the NFL will ever specifically ‘apologize’ to Colin Kaepernick, after Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins, one of the league’s most outspoken and respected voices, said he believes NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell needs to not only apologize to Kaepernick personally, but ‘assign’ him to a team.

Goodell last week made a video acknowledging that the league was wrong about the way they handled the National Anthem protests and not fully listening to their players, but never made any direct allusions to Kaepernick.

Check out the audio above as Gottlieb details why the league is never going to apologize to Kaepernick, and why the idea of Goodell assigning Kaepernick to a team is laughable.
