Undefeated Boxing Phenom Dies in Car Accident

24-year-old boxing star Travell Mazion was killed in a car accident near his hometown of Austin, Texas, on Wednesday (July 15). One other person died, and two others were injured in the crash. Officials have not released details surrounding the accident.

Mazion, nicknamed "Black Magic," had a career record of 17-0 with 13 knockouts. He dominated his fights, wrapping up most of them in the first round. His most recent victory came on January 11, when he knocked out Fernando Castaneda in just 58 seconds to win the WBC-NABF super welterweight title.

Oscar De La Hoya, who was Mazion's promoter, tweeted that "the world lost a good one."

"I am still in disbelief. @black_magic92 you left us far too soon! Nice, young man with all the talent in the world. Not only did our sport take a huge hit with losing you but the world lost a good one. You are forever Golden. My heart & prayers are with you & your family champ."

Golden Boy Promotions, which is owned by De La Hoya, issued a brief statement mourning the loss of their boxer.

"Mazion was a kind, charismatic young man who lit up every room he walked into and brought excitement to fans inside the ring. We send our heartfelt prayers and thoughts to his family. May he rest in peace."
