Colin Cowherd: Why Giannis Antetokounmpo is the 'Lamar Jackson' of the NBA

Colin Cowherd: “Lamar Jackson is a way better quarterback with the lead than from behind at this point in his career, and this goes for Giannis as a basketball player. Giannis with a lead is great, he’s physically imposing, you don’t get any cheap baskets, and he plays his game. Giannis trailing is not the same player. He doesn’t shoot threes and if you need quick points, he doesn’t get them for you. Last night Giannis had no field goals the final 11 minutes. Giannis trailing late in a game is not as dominant or imposing as Giannis leading and this is the Lamar Jackson thing. Nobody thinks Giannis is terrible in the fourth quarter, and nobody thinks Lamar is awful trailing, but when you watch Baltimore trailing... Lamar Jackson’s running ability and run fakes – who cares? You gotta throw the ball when you’re down 14 with 7 minutes left. The Bucks were 9-16 when trailing by double-digits at any point in the game. They’re not a comeback team, especially late… I can make the argument that Patrick Mahomes and Damian Lillard are MORE dangerous trailing.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks Giannis Antetokounmpo is the NFL’s version of Lamar Jackson, as a super talent and reigning MVP whose play significantly drops when his team is trailing compared to when they have the lead.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Giannis and Lamar are actually the opposite of Patrick Mahomes and Damian Lillard, whose games actually greatly elevate when their teams desperately need them to make a big play while trailing.
