Colin Cowherd: “It bothers me when I think somebody is way better than he’s given credit for and not getting respect… I was reading an article today about how Derek Carr is going to get replaced by Marcus Mariota… OK, Derek Carr is WAY BETTER than Marcus Mariota. Derek is good. He’s largely been carrying this ‘S-Show’ for about five years. Last year he had a rookie running back, a rookie wide receiver, and a new tight end, and he had 4,000 yards, passer rating over 100, and 70% completion percentage. Are you kidding me? Yet he’s going to get replaced?? Those are great numbers on a terrible defensive team where he has to pass usually because they trail in the third quarter by double-digits. Derek Carr is the only quarterback left in the league who is good and won’t get any love. It’s very Tony Romo… Because of the instability of the Raiders, he’s on his fourth coach, because the stadium is a mess, the owner is the poorest owner – I think the Raiders bring down Derek Carr’s brand. I think Carr is better than the organization he plays for. Last year he had the second best completion percentage behind Drew Brees, was eighth in yards with a bunch of rookies, and was 8th in passer rating above Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers… He’s the only good Top 12 quarterback in the league who gets no love from anybody, and not even his coach likes him!” (Full Segment Above)

At one point the now-29-year-old Carr was an MVP candidate in 2016 when he went 12-3 with a 28/6 touchdown-to-interception ratio, but has gone 17-30 as a starter since breaking his leg on Christmas Day that same season.
