NBA Set Precedent for Montrezl Harrell Debate Instead of Sports Being Tough

Clay Travis is joined by Jason Whitlock for Outkick's weekly Monday program featuring Jason, and the two are reacting to what was one of the biggest stories over the sports weekend involving Luka Doncic and Montrezl Harrell.

Harrell was seen using racial verbiage towards Doncic in game 3 of their first round match up, and Clay argues that if the roles had been reversed, Doncic would likely be suspended for the rest of the playoffs.

Clay believes that Harrell should be suspended, or at least fined, simply based off of the precedent the NBA has established in striving for equality for everybody across the board. If someone uses a racial insult towards another player on the court, it seems like the player doing the insulting should face some sort of penalty.

What will happen down the road if a similar situation takes place? If the NBA fines or suspends that player, the league will look hypocritical because there was no penalty for what Montrezl Harrell said towards Luka. In the end, this particular situation worked itself out, as Luka took it to Harrell and the Clippers Sunday afternoon, and finished them off with a buzzer-beater to win game 4 and tie the series up at two games each.
