Colin Cowherd Says Continuing NBA Season Was the Right Move By the Players

Colin Cowherd: “You can have two thoughts on the same thing in America. I can support ‘Black Lives Matter’ and also think simultaneously that they should play the games because it raises so much awareness. You think I’m wrong on that? Then why did the players just elect to play? You think they are suddenly racist and don’t support ‘BLM’?? You can have two thoughts in America, it’s okay. You can support ‘Black Lives Matter’ but also think these platforms are unbelievably powerful and that’s what the players just decided. They still care, but they love the basketball, they love playing with each other, and they love this whole environment to raise awareness. PLATFORMS MATTER. Right now the NBA players are leading the discussion in America on ‘Black Lives Matter’, and the reason they are leading the discussion is because they have platforms. We have all these networks right now talking about ‘Black Lives Matter.’ In my city they broadcast NBA games starting at 10am and they last all day long with ‘Black Lives Matter’ on the court and on the jerseys, and coaches talking about it before the game, during the game, and after the game. You don’t think those platforms matters? Growth comes from awareness. Why am I so aware of the talking points of ‘Black Lives Matter’? Because they’re playing games. I don’t hear Doc Rivers’ powerful moment if the players do not elect to play in a bubble two months ago, you don’t hear LeBron James talk about Breonna Taylor, and you don’t hear any of these.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd give his perspective on the NBA players deciding not to boycott the rest of the season in the wake of the Jacob Blake police shooting in Wisconsin last weekend, and why he thinks the players made the right decision to continue the playoffs.

Check out the video above as Colin details why platforms matter, and how there were so many crucial tidbits about social awareness that came from the NBA’s Bubble the last month.that never would have been broadcasted to millions of NBA fans if not for the players agreeing to come down to Orlando in the first place. Colin says there is still much to be attained with the NBA's national television platform, and says their outreach would have been greatly cut down if they had boycotted the season.
