Clay Travis: Athletes Are Entertainers, Not Politicians

Clay Travis: “The sports media following the NBA never points out any of their flaws, any of their disasters, or the fact that their ratings are down now 40% the past two years. I believe there is wisdom in masses and they see through all of the propaganda that is being spewed about how amazing the NBA is, and say to themselves ‘I don’t think it’s really smart to put ‘Black Lives Matter’ on the basketball court’, and ‘I don’t really like every single person that is affiliated with the NBA taking a knee for the National Anthem’, and ‘I don’t think it makes sense to put social justice warrior slogans on the back of your jersey when you’re taking billions of dollars from China and refuse to say a word about the fact they have concentration camps, lack of human rights, and taking over all of democracy in China.’ You bend the knee to China, but you will criticize America to the nth degree? A lot of people see that and don’t think it makes sense… The sports media is like ‘do these athletes just exist to entertain you??’ I mean, that’s kind of the business that they’re in. People are like ‘Do you just expect for athletes to entertain you?’ Kinda, yeah, I do. I mean, that’s why we pay them. Do you say ‘Do you just expect that performer to go sing on the stage for you??’ Yea, I do… That’s why I bought a ticket for the concert. ‘Did you think you were just going to show up in that comedy club and you’re favorite comedian was going to make you laugh??’ Yea… That’s why I bought the ticket. ‘Do you expect an athlete to show up at a sporting event and just play the sport for your entertainment??’ Yeah… That’s why I’m watching. It’s so funny to me that the sports media has gotten so bent out of shape about the idea that sports fans are like ‘hey, I’d kind of just like to enjoy the game.’” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Clay Travis explain why he thinks the NBA’s playoff ratings have been mysteriously low, and why he believes it’s simply been fans choosing to change their channels from a product that refuses to stop interjecting partisan politics.

Check out the segment above as Clay details why he finds it hard to believe that the media doesn’t understand that sports fans tune into games to see their favorite athletes perform their crafts that made them world famous, and not to see them wearing social justice slogans on their jersey, and preaching their personal politics during the post-game.
