Colin Cowherd: It's Time For Falcons to Distance Themselves From Matt Ryan

Colin Cowherd: “Atlanta fired everybody – they fired their GM and they fired their coach, and I’m like ‘I think I’d move off Matt Ryan in one year.’ With cap space you have to keep him this year and next year, but if Atlanta keeps losing and I could draft a Trevor Lawrence or a Justin Fields I would draft them. Even the owner Arthur Blank said they aren’t quite sure what they’re going to do at the quarterback position with Matt Ryan. Not exactly a vote of confidence. Matt Ryan is not bad, we all know that. Matt Ryan is not special or dynamic, we all know that. He’s Kirk Cousins with an MVP… I watched Matt Ryan this past weekend. He can only be great when everything is set up for him. Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson make plays with the world isn’t perfect. Matt Ryan plays in a dome with no wind, and he plays in a warm weather division. If he played in Pittsburgh you would see even more issues. He’s protected, he has Julio Jones, and he plays in a dome. In 2020, what is your quarterback like when you’re missing a left tackle, your top running back is out, your number two receiver is out, and your back is killing you because you got sacked five times the previous week. THAT for Matt Ryan is territory he can’t elevate. I’d take Trevor Lawrence and sit him for a year… If you want to be special, you gotta be special at quarterback. Matt Ryan is only special when everything is set up to succeed, and when you watch the NFL going forward, when is everything set up to succeed?” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why the Atlanta Falcons need to start distancing themselves from 35-year-old Matt Ryan, as Colin believes the 0-5 Falcons could soon find themselves in a situation where they could be in position to draft a quarterback like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, or Trey Lance.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Ryan is simply ‘Kirk Cousins with an MVP’ and a guy who can only deliver when EVERYTHING is set up around him perfectly to succeed.
