Why Tua Tagovailoa Will Become the NFL's Next Infamous Quarterback Bust

Why Tua Tagovailoa Will Become the NFL's Next Infamous Quarterback Bust

Colin Cowherd: “Size matters in the NFL. The average quarterback height in the NFL is like 6’2” 1/2 and above. But because Russell Wilson dances around were like ‘IT’S THE FUTURE!’ No, it’s not the future, he’s just unbelievable. Kyler is Murray is also UNBELIEVABLE. These are all ‘run-around’ guys, you can’t catch them. Fran Tarkenton ran circles around people for ten years. Tua is small and isn’t really athletic. He has to be like 2016 Presidential polling, he has to be a historic exception. Can he be Drew Brees? Good God, that’s asking a lot. Drew Brees is the biggest outlier in the history of football. Small, doesn’t have a huge arm, doesn’t run around, and wins. That’s the only prototype I get to use? That’s it?? This idea that size doesn’t matter is nonsense. Go look at the 40 best quarterbacks in history, they’re almost ALL big. And when you do get the 5’11” 1/2 guy, you can’t catch them. They’re like comets. Tua has got all of the small, but none of the wiggle. He’s going to struggle to see over offensive lines, and unlike a Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Fran Tarkenton, or Russell Wilson, can't move around a lot and open up passing lanes. This idea that short and ‘no wiggle’ is going to dominant in the NFL? I hope I’m wrong, and maybe I’m wrong, but I’m sitting there this morning thinking ‘oh, boy, did I whiff on this.’ I already had my epiphany, but it’s too late. I had already bragged about him for six months.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he’s no longer on the Tua Tagovailoa bandwagon, as Colin says he woke up one morning recently and had an ‘epiphany’, and now says he wants to officially go on record pulling back on his prediction that Tua will become the next Drew Brees.

Tagovailoa will make his first career start in the NFL versus the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, who just eviscerated Nick Foles and the Bears.

Check out the segment above as Colin shockingly does a 180 on his previously glowing predictions for Tua, saying he thinks Tua is too small as a non-athlete to succeed in the NFL, and says Brees is just too much of an outlier to think Tua can have similar success.
