Doug Gottlieb: Lamar Jackson's Biggest Flaws Have Finally Been Exposed

Doug Gottlieb: “The ceiling of Lamar Jackson and his struggles throwing the football could not be more evident than in what we saw yesterday. He completed 44% of his passes, and threw for two touchdown passes, but he had four turnovers. In his career losses he has 11 touchdowns, 12 turnovers, and 102 yards passing per game… You have the turnovers which is the problem with ‘option’ football, you have Lamar struggling to complete passes when it’s made for passing downs, you have wide receivers getting a little bit antsy about not getting enough targets, and oh, by the way, this is the same thing that happened with Greg Roman in San Francisco with Colin Kaepernick. This is a good football team, but they’re limited by their quarterback because he can really only play one way, which is not the worst thing in the world, but this is why people don’t play this way… I’m not telling you that Lamar Jackson stinks, what I’m saying is that this style not only has a ceiling, but it has a shelf life, and they’re bumping against the ceiling, and getting closer to the ‘born on’ date where they’re going to have to figure this thing out… Lamar has freak athleticism with an incredible arm, but lacks the accuracy, and the ability to make pinpoint throws outside of the numbers. He's a guy who still has the tendency to drop his head and think about running when the pressure comes, and that’s a really hard way to live.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he thinks Lamar Jackson has already hit his ceiling in the NFL, as Gottlieb says Jackson’s biggest flaws that scouts had highlighted when he was coming out of college have begun to expose themselves during his third NFL season.

Check out the video above as Gottlieb details why Jackson’s shortcomings throwing the football have turned him into a one-dimensional player, and a liability going forward for Baltimore.
