Why Cowboys Should Dump Dak Prescott and Draft a First Round Quarterback

Chris Broussard: “I like Dak Prescott, but I’ve never said that Dak was an Aaron Rodgers, a Tom Brady, or somebody who can put the franchise on his back. He’s a franchise quarterback and is en route to being elite, but he’s not right now. If I’m Jerry Jones or Stephen Jones, I’m going to be honest, if we got the second, third, or fourth pick, and Justin Fields is on the board, I would draft Fields. Why? MONEY. We know the Cowboys have spent all this money on other players, and if you franchise Dak it’s going to be at about $38 million. You’ll have to cut other guys that your team needs. It also hamstrings you of what you can add in the future, and what they already have doesn’t look like it’s enough. When you have that rookie quarterback on that rookie scale not making a ton, you can build around him better. We’ve seen Tua Tagovailoa, Joe Burrow, and Justin Herbert coming in BALLIN’. If I can get one of them? Yea, I gotta be honest. I would do it.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Chris Broussard explain why the Cowboys’ real ‘blessing in disguise’ this season, would be if the team finished with a worse enough record to have the opportunity to Draft Justin Fields or Trey Lance in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and be able to sever ties with the financial kneecapping of Dak Prescott.

Check out the video above as Broussard details what he thinks the Cowboys should do if they finish with a top 5 pick, as the team would currently be drafting third overall if the Draft were held today.
