Doug Gottlieb: James Harden Has Never Cared About Winning

Doug Gottlieb: “James Harden was a no-show at the first and second days of Rockets’ camp, and his head coach, Stephen Silas, said today was a bit of a ‘set back’… This on the heels of reports of James Harden wanting to be traded to Brooklyn. I’m going to tell you something that I think you already know. James Harden is not an NBA champion, and he does not WANT to be an NBA champion… He has every right to be upset where this franchise is, and even if he does show up they ain’t beating the Lakers or Clippers, but this is no different from Lou Williams going to the strip club and getting some wings. You’re telling everybody that you don’t really want to win. Even if you want to win elsewhere, get you’re a** to practice and play the good soldier. Why? Because then Houston, if they were forced to make a deal, is more likely to make a deal because you’re not giving pennies on the dollar for James Harden in true market value because it doesn’t feel like you’re a malcontent… If you’ve had these disappointing seasons, it’s YOUR franchise, and you got a new head coach, you better be the first person to greet him. They probably traded for John Wall to make YOU happy. Even if you’re not happy, and you don’t think it will work, you know what you should do? YOU SHOULD BE THERE. Instead, he was in Atlanta at a party with no mask on; now he’s in COVID protocol, and we don’t know if he wants to be there, or doesn’t want to be there. What we DO know is that he don’t wanna win. Everyone says they 'want' to win until you ask them ‘what are you willing to sacrifice in order to do it?’ He wants to win on HIS terms, but that’s not the way it works.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he doesn’t think embattled Rockets star James Harden has ever really been a guy who ‘wanted to win’ in the NBA, as Gottlieb thinks Harden's recent bout as a malcontent in Houston while refusing to attend Rockets training camp this week, and after rumors he wanted to be traded to Brooklyn is just another example of a guy never willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve greatness.
