CFB Insider Gives Update on Whether Michigan vs. Ohio State Game is Played

Listen to Yahoo Sports college football reporter Pete Thamel join The Dan Patrick Show to report on the current status of this Saturday’s rivalry game between Michigan and Ohio State, as the game still hangs in the balance depending on both teams’ ability to avoid COVID-19 spreading.

Michigan had to cancel its game last week against Maryland because of COVID issues, spurring some, including ESPN lead college football analyst, Kirk Herbstreit, to wonder if 2-4 Michigan would even make any attempt to play Ohio State the following week considering Michigan will be over a four touchdown underdog.

Herbstreit later apologized for the comments, and said he would have no real reason to believe that Michigan would ‘waive the white flag’ and attempt to dodge Ohio State under a false sheath of COVID.

Michigan currently stands as a 29-point underdog, and has not beaten Ohio State since 2011 when Brady Hoke was the head coach.

The Big Ten created a ‘rule’ before the season that the Big Ten Championship must feature two teams that have played at least six regular season games, putting the 5-0 Buckeyes in jeopardy of being ruled ineligible for the title game if Saturday’s contest is called off, but many around the sport doubt the conference would actually stick to those guidelines, as they would effectively be ruining Ohio State’s chances to represent the Big Ten in the College Football Playoff.

Check out the interview above as Thamel updates the outlook for the game happening.
