Stop Acting Like Jalen Hurts & Taysom Hill Are Going to 'Change' the NFL

Colin Cowherd: “Jalen Hurts got the start, ran around, and won the game… So now it’s time for another edition of ‘Let’s massively overreact, American sports media, to a quarterback who runs more than he throws and he’s going to change the NFL.’ Tim Tebow didn’t, Kaepernick didn’t, Taysom Hill is not, Jalen Hurts is not, and Lamar Jackson is not. As we say multiple times a year, ‘unique’ always works – the ‘Wildcat’ worked – it just rarely lasts. Yes, Jalen Hurts was fun, he gave them an identity, the playcalling was synthesized to the very core of what he does, and Doug Pederson is like ‘this kid can move, let’s move him.’ It’s fun, and Philadelphia’s defense seemed to respond and played great. But can the media stop constantly overreacting to ‘unique’ in the NFL? Even if Jalen Hurts wins it doesn’t solve the bigger issue. You backed up the Brinx truck for Carson Wentz and you owe him a $100 million-plus… Since the 1970s, something has always been true in the NFL -- You gotta sit in the pocket to win big. ‘Unique’ can work briefly, but you gotta sit and throw the football.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the NFL media needs to stop ‘overreacting’ to Jalen Hurts’ first NFL start, as Colin says it’s just another example of a uniquely talented running quarterback experiencing quick success in the NFL, only to predictably underwhelm the rest of his career when his lack of pocket awareness is finally exposed.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he’s not buying into Hurts or Taysom Hill ‘changing’ the NFL.
