Clay Travis on Indians Name Change and Cancel Culture: 'When Does it End??'

Clay Travis: “I’m not one of these guys who is wildly committed to the Washington Redskins name, but my thing is ‘Where does it end?’ Let’s pretend I was the representative of ‘non-woke’ culture, and I would sit down with whoever the representatives are of 'woke' culture, and we would negotiate a long-term solution to end all of this ridiculous and perpetual offended-ness. What agreement could we enter into? Where could we end cancel culture? The answer is that I don’t think you can do it because the far left-wingers who are reliant upon cancel culture always need something new to be offended by, otherwise they just have to go to work, sit down and shut up, and stop whining… And they will never do it. First it was the Redskins, then it’s another one that gets knocked off, and then it’s another one that comes up. Now it’s the Indians, then it will be the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves, Florida State Seminoles, and maybe somewhere down the line the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is going to be considered offensive. The question becomes: ‘Why?’ Why is there this perpetual outrage cycle, and why can’t we just have a negotiated end to perpetual indignation over mascot names? Because they don’t actually want that. They don’t want change, they want something to complain, moan, and whine about. If that doesn’t happen, then they don’t have any reason to exist. The far left-wing is the tip of the progressive spear, and if there’s nothing for them to be upset about and try to cancel, then there’s absolutely nothing left. We’re now to a point where they’re not even pointing to actual things that exist, they’re talking about ‘systemic’ things, and things that can’t even be directly pointed to as issues in the country. Not ‘actual’ things, things that don’t have any ability to reconcile themselves. It’s one thing to say ‘we need a law to keep people from discriminating against others based on their race, religion, sex', or whatever else – okay we got there. But now, we gotta have ‘structural inequality' arguments because there isn’t any tangible issue at play that can be reconciled, so now everything is ‘systemic’, and that’s kind of what is going on with the Cleveland Indians… Cancel culture never rests and that’s why you have to combat it.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Clay Travis discuss the Cleveland Indians’ recent decision to get rid of their ‘Indians’ team name after the 2021 season, and why he thinks the ‘woke’ and ‘far-left’ really don’t remotely care about mascots they deem ‘offensive’, but rather just need something new to be offended and outraged about to garner headlines, and political capital.

Check out the video above as Clay details why you have to combat ‘cancel culture’, and stop it in its tracks or it will just continue to level anything in its path, with Clay wondering if these groups will eventually put the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Braves, Florida State Seminoles, and even Notre Dame Fighting Irish into submission, and try to get them to tap out to forced name changes.
