Why Giannis Antetokounmpo's Extension with the Bucks Saved the NBA

Rob Parker: “Giannis did what a lot of NBA America was hoping, which was to stay put. He got paid and he decided he wasn’t going to join the others in this lunacy called the 'AAU' with ‘Super Teams’, and messing with competitive balance. I sit here today and say GIANNIS SAVED THE NBA. This is THAT big. He could have easily taken the easy way out; there were so many people and teams who wanted him… He said ‘I’m going to do my own thing', I’ll build my own team in Milwaukee – a small market, and he gives hope to a lot of people in NBA America. This was a rejection of ‘LeBron James’ NBA’, because LeBron is the one who started this… You can’t be a LeBron fan and try to pooh-pooh what the Warriors did by saying it wasn’t ‘fair’, because that’s what LeBron was trying to do when he went to Miami. He wanted to make it ‘unfair’ and stack the deck in his favor. For Giannis to do this and buck the ‘AAU’ way of thinking in this country, and going back to the days of where guys wanted to beat each other… THANK YOU, GIANNIS FOR SAVING THE NBA AND NOT MAKING IT SO ONE-SIDED.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Rob Parker explain why he thinks Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘saved’ the NBA by taking a maximum contract extension with his hometown Milwaukee Bucks instead of electing to form a ‘Super Team’ in a much more glamorous market like Miami, Golden State, or Los Angeles.

Check out the video above as Parker details why Giannis’ deal was a rejection of ‘LeBron James’ NBA' where stars 'take the easy way out’ to form Super Teams in an attempt to pile up championships with a stacked deck.
