Colin Cowherd: Josh Allen is Now in the Same Class as Patrick Mahomes

Mike Florio: "I've talked to very knowledgeable people in league circles who quietly will say that if they had to choose between the two right now, they would take Allen for the course of the career because he's larger and possibly more durable than Patrick Mahomes would be. It remains to be seen how durable both are over the long haul, but that's high praise for Josh Allen because there is a sense by some that Patrick Mahomes is in a class by himself. There are others that think Josh Allen is in that exact same class."

Colin Cowherd: "According to some league executives, some in league circles would take Josh Allen over Patrick Mahomes long-term... I don’t take a lot out of the NFL Combine but it’s SOMETHING, that’s why they all go. Josh Allen had a bigger hand size than Patrick Mahomes. Quarterback ball velocity – Allen. Height – Allen. 40-yard dash – Allen. Vertical leap – Allen. Josh Allen went higher in the Draft but the difference is how they entered the league. Mahomes got to sit and watch some football behind a winning veteran quarterback, he went to a very stable organization, he had weapons, and he had Andy Reid. Allen entered in year one having to play, not having a ton to play with, not on a very good team, and with a new coach, and on a team with a losing culture… Have you seen Josh Allen’s numbers since he got Stefon Diggs?? This idea that Mahomes is in some sort of Michael Jordan and LeBron galaxy… I don’t think that’s the case here, and I think Mahomes and Josh Allen, and increasingly Justin Herbert if he gets the right coach, are all in the same category. Finally, Allen has some cultural and coaching momentum with a star receiver, and look what they’ve done?” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he doesn’t think Patrick Mahomes should be put on this hyperbolic pedestal as a ‘Michael Jordan’ or ‘LeBron James’ type phenom talent that is so much better than the rest of the league, as Colin says he’d easily put Josh Allen in the same talent category as Mahomes.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he believes many around the league are now starting to jump on the Allen bandwagon, with NFL insiders even speculating that some league executives would rather have Allen over Mahomes in the long-term.
