Clay Travis Likes Non-Traditional Approach Rams Are Taking by Risking Picks

Clay Travis is reacting to the blockbuster trade between the Rams and the Lions that has QB Mathew Stafford landing in Los Angeles in exchange for QB Jared Goff and several draft picks.

Clay loves what the Rams are doing philosophically. They just don't care about draft picks. When they acquired Jalen Ramsey, LA gave up 2 first-round draft picks to get a star shutdown corner. Now with their trade to acquire Mathew Stafford, they give up a former first-rounder in Goff, along with 2 more of their first-round picks in '22 and '23. Clay thinks it's the right thing to do.

The Rams are going against traditional wisdom, but it makes sense for them to do so. They already have arguably the most complete roster in the NFL, except for at the quarterback position. Now LA will add a quarterback who they believe can take their team to the next level.

The Rams haven't had a first-round pick since 2016, and the way things stand as of right now, they won't have one until 2024. Instead of those draft picks, they have acquired known commodities and made their team better.
