Rob Parker: Rams Got Fleeced in 'Stat Padford' Matthew Stafford Trade

Rob Parker: “To give up that haul for Matthew Stafford who played 12 years in Detroit – NO PLAYOFF WINS, and didn’t even win the division once. He has the nickname ‘STAT PADFORD’ in Detroit for a reason. Matthew Stafford and Jameis Winston’s numbers their first five years in the league are almost identical. One guy gets a big trade to a contender, and the other guy was out of a job looking to be a backup somewhere. I watched the first seven years of his career very closely, and I used to travel with the Lions, so this isn’t somebody who is just looking at box scores. If you only watch highlights shows you say ‘LOOK AT THAT THROW BY STAFFORD!’ and your vision and idea of him is different from people who watch the entire game… This is the one that should scare you: 10-66 against teams that finished the season with winning records. He doesn’t beat the good teams… They led that playoff game vs. Dallas 20-7 in 2015, and they went scoreless in the final 18 minutes. THOSE are the moments I’m talking about. You can not only put this on everybody else, and Stafford gets no blame… I think the Lions FLEECED them.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Rob Parker explain why he thinks the Rams got ‘fleeced’ in the Matthew Stafford trade that sent Jared Goff, two first-round picks, and one third-round pick to Detroit.

Check out the video above as the former Detroit sportswriter who use to cover the Lions in Stafford's early years, detail why he doesn’t think the Lions will miss ‘STAT PADFORD’, and a guy who never won a playoff game in 12 NFL seasons.
