NFL Releases Full 'Mic'd Up' Audio and Video Footage From Super Bowl 55

On Thursday the NFL released full game ‘Mic’d Up’ audio from Super Bowl 55 in Tampa Bay, as the Buccaneers blew the Kansas City Chiefs out 31-9.

The most obvious omission was the back-and-forth extra-curriculars between Tom Brady and Tyrann Mathieu at the end of the first half, as the two stars got into two fiery shouting matches while touching face masks, with the second altercation resulting in a 15-year unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Mathieu.

Mathieu tweeted after the game that Brady had called him something that he ‘can’t repeat’, but later deleted the tweet, leading some cynics to speculate if this was a Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph type ordeal, where Mathieu was implying that Brady had used a racial slur.

Former NFL player Michael Irvin denied those baseless rumors on the Rich Eisen Show on Thursday and said he’s heard the audio, and firmly denied that Brady had said the ‘n-word’ to Mathieu.

Here was the piece from that segment:

Rich Eisen: “What piece of footage have you seen that the rest of us haven’t that we will see on Showtime?”

Michael Irvin: “They’ll play some of that footage in the battle between Tom Brady and Tyrann Mathieu. I’m gonna say this, I didn’t like that Tyrann Mathieu put that out like that, the way he put it out honestly because it makes as if he said the N-word, Tom did not. I did not like that it’s even looming over this situation, so that’s why I think we should clean that up somewhere somehow. He didn’t say that.”

Irvin made allusions to the actual audio eventually airing on Showtime, where Irvin is a guest analyst on ‘Inside the NFL’, but he didn’t make it clear when it will finally be shown.

Brady reportedly apologized to Mathieu after the game in a text message, and said that Mathieu a ‘great leader’.
