Former NFL Star Found Dead in Florida Hotel Room

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson was found dead in a Bradenton, FL hotel room on Monday morning, as news of his passing took the NFL by storm just a week after one of his former teams won the Super Bowl.

The former San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneer wideout was just 38 years old, and his death is still unknown and under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office said that there were no signs of trauma in an attempt to rule out possible foul play.

The 6’5”, 230-pound star was a second-round pick in 2005 out of Northern Colorado, and spent 12 years in the NFL, putting up a borderline Hall of Fame career with 9,080 receiving yards (16.8 per catch), and 57 touchdowns.

He had six 1,000-yard seasons in one seven-year period between 2008 and 2014, including a career-high 1,384 yards in 2012 with the Bucs where he caught 8 touchdowns and led the league in yards per catch at 19.2.

The support for V-Jax poured in on social media from current and former teammates, including current Bucs Pro Bowl WR Mike Evans.
