Vanessa Bryant Calls Out Meek Mill After Disrespectful Lyrics About Kobe

Vanessa Bryant, the wife of the late great superstar Kobe Bryant, called out rapper Meek Mill via Instagram on Monday, after she was made aware that Meek included disparaging lyrics in a recent track that made allusions to the NBA Hall of Famer’s fatal helicopter crash on January 26th, 2020.

In the leaked and unreleased track the full verse goes as follows:

“I got n***as eatin’ on me and they never told me

I got n***as in they feelings ‘bout this money and they really owe me

This b*tch I’m f**king always tell me that she love me but she ain’t ever showed me

Yeah, and If I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe

Sh*t, I could tell that they ain’t never know me

‘Cause if they knew me they wouldn’t ever show me”

Bryant posted a story to her IG with a screenshot of the lyrics with the caption “Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”

Meek would later apologize on Twitter, tweeting early Tuesday morning "I apologized to her in private earlier today, not to the public… Nothing I say on my page directed to an internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”

Despite the apology on Twitter, Meek was taking heat after tweeting earlier in the day -- moments after news of Bryant's IG response was making the rounds -- that read: “I’m going back savage in this sh*t … f#%k ya feelings!”. It is unknown if Mill was specifically mentioning the backlash he had gotten from the Kobe lyrics, or had even seen Vanessa's IG story, but he would delete the tweet later in the day.

Meek naturally set off a firestorm of condemnation around Twitter for the lyrics.
